What is the right equipment for me?

This is always a burning question for anyone making a capital expenditure. This is precisely why we offer so many different lines of product and so many different products. We realize that our customers and their needs are not all the same. We don't try to sell you what we have or what we manufacture, we try to assist you in acquiring what you need.

Dimensions& installations requirements?

The general dimensions are listed with most if not all of our equipment on the web site. If for some reason you run across a piece of equipment that does not have dimensions and/or specifications listed please let us know we will do our best to get you what you need promptly. We find that it is sometimes not helpful to provide customers with installation manuals before we talk to them because generally a person wants the instructions prior to purchase because they have circumstances that require special needs. Our experience can help you with your special needs and help you spot potential problems before you make your final decision. Call and talk to us and we will provide you with installation manuals you require.

Lifts

How safe are the lifts you offer?

Your safety is extremely important to us, and our lifts are made accordingly. All the lifts we offer have been designed and manufactured to meet or exceed American National Standard Institute safety standards B 153.1 1990 for Automotive Lifts - Safety Requirements for Construction, Care, and Use - and UL73. and/or current OSHA/ANSI safety requirements. Your safety is extremely important to us, and our lifts are made accordingly.

What are the differences between the asymmetric, symmetric and floor pan/plate model two post automotive lifts?

Although these models all look similar at first glance, there are some important differences.

The asymmetric design two post lift (GPO-9A) allows you to lift the car while moving it out and away from the two posts. There is approximately 25% of the vehicle in front of the lift and the remaining 75% of the vehicle in back of the lift. This allows you to open your doors freely without the doors hitting the posts. This model is recommended if you're going to be using it mostly for lifting cars, as opposed to trucks with a long wheelbase.

The symmetric design two post lift (GPO-9) has more width between the posts than the asymmetric design two post lift. This model is ideal for lifting vehicles that have a long wheelbase. This model can be used for lifting just about any standard truck or car.

The floor pan / plate model two post lift (GP-9F) is designed for applications where there is less than 12 feet of ceiling height clearance. This model is ideal for lifting both cars and trucks.

What if there's a power outage?

A power outage will only last a few minutes, and your lift will begin operating again as soon as the power is restored. However, if you're concerned about an emergency where you need to get your car down immediately during a power failure, we recommend ordering a duplex hand pump. This can be viewed on our web site.

To the top of the page.

What type of power outlet/source is needed to operate my lift?

Our residential power units use a single-phase 110V or 220V power source (a 30-amp breaker is recommended). Most residential garages already have 110V or 220V outlets already installed (most washers-and-dryers operate on 220V). Our commercial power units use a standard 220 volt single phase power unit.

To the top of the page.

Will my lift require special hydraulic fluid to operate properly?

All lifts offered by America's Pride are designed to operate using standard 10-weight, non-foaming, non-detergent hydraulic oil. This is available in virtually any automotive store.

To the top of the page.

How do I unload my lift?

For most of our products two people can unload the lift by themselves. Some of the larger equipment may require a fork lift, cherry picker or roll back truck.

How do I install my lift?

If you're the do-it-yourself type you'll probably enjoy installing your own lift. Most of our customers find it fairly easy to install their lift themselves. (Installing the lift yourself does not void the warranty). If you would like to have someone install your lift for you America's Pride can recommend qualified installers in your area.

To the top of the page.

Do I need any special tools to install my lift?

The only tool you will need that you probably don't have already is a rotary hammer drill to drill the _ inch holes in your concrete for the anchor bolts. If you don't have one you can usually rent one. Rental prices vary from location to location. Other than that, some hand wrenches , sockets, adjustable wrench and screwdriver are the only other tools you will need. We always assume that if you are purchasing a lift you must own tools.

To the top of the page.

How much does it cost for a professional installer to install my lift?

The cost depends on the type of lift you want installed. For our most popular lifts, professional installation usually costs between $300.00 and $500.00 for a 2 post lift, between $500.00 and $700.00 for a 4 post lift and between $1,000.00 and $2,000.00. We will do our best to get you the best pricing on your particular lift installation.

To the top of the page.

Do I need a special type of floor or foundation to support my lift?

Just about every home or commercial foundation is plenty strong enough to support our lifts. In most applications, minimum requirements are 4" thick concrete, 3000 psi. Some of our lifts don't even need to be anchored down, although all the supporting base plates are pre-drilled in case you choose to anchor your lift. On larger capacity models you will need 6" of concrete. The lift should not be installed any closer than 6" from any cracks or joints in the floor and should also be at least 6" from the edge of the concrete.

To the top of the page.

Do I need a building permit to install my lift?

Permit requirements, if any, vary depending on the city and the type of lift being installed. For example, lifts installed in Massachusetts do not require a permit for the most part. On the West Coast, there are more restrictions and requirements. Some towns and cities do not require a permit unless the equipment is bolted down. Obtaining a permit is the responsibility of the person buying the lift, so please check with your local building department.

To the top of the page.

Are your lifts easy to operate?

Yes, very easy. Parking lifts and automotive lifts offered by America's Pride are designed in a way that is easy for anyone to operate. Some companies actually have systems so complicated that they require a licensed operator to use them. We try to be as user friendly as possible. This isn't rocket science or brain surgery. It goes up and it comes down. What could be more simple than that.

To the top of the page.

What if my requirements are so unique that none of the offered models meet them?

We deal with such a large variety of manufacturers that this almost never comes up. If you do have a unique application this is not a problem. In some cases we can have a lift or lifting system manufactured to your specifications. Custom systems are often very expensive. Call and talk to one of our sales people because it could very well be that we do have something that will work for you.
